The climate in Jumilla is Continental with severe summers and winter and low levels of rainfall. The extreme heat of the summer is moderated by a slight cooling influence from the Mediterranean Sea, helping to retain freshness in the wines. Bodegas Luzón's vineyards are certified sustainable and they have converted some of the estate to organic practices. In this hot climate, the estate specialises in growing heat-loving black-skinned grape varieties, particularly Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon .
